Foresight sells £100m of solar assets

Infrastructure and private equity investment manager Foresight Group has completed the sale of a portfolio of solar assets for proceeds of over £100m.

The total energy generation capacity of the portfolio amounts to 70MW. The sale was from Foresight Solar & Technology VCT, launched in 2010.

Ernie Richardson, chair of Foresight Solar & Technology VCT, said: “The team managing the fund have expertly negotiated an exceptional return for our investors and we are pleased with the outcome of this sale.”

Foresight manages over 350 infrastructure assets with a focus on solar and onshore wind assets, bioenergy and waste, as well as energy efficiency management solutions, social and core infrastructure projects, and sustainable forestry assets.

Last year, the UK government announced grant funding of £3m to be targeted at space-based solar power projects.
