McKinsey launches materials hub focused on value-chain decarbonisation
Global consulting firm McKinsey has launched a hub to support sustainability within the materials industry. According to the company, materials industries, such as metals, cement, batteries and glass, account for 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The hub is also focusing on sustainability across the value chain within these industries – a feature the firm claims is increasingly relevant to the materials decarbonisation agenda. Associate partner Anna-Christina Fredershausen said: “Most players will have to find ways to work across the value chain. They can’t do this in a silo and get where they want to go. That’s why in the new hub we’ve organised ourselves the way we have.”
