Most Brits think net zero is ‘unachievable’ in next 30 years

Despite fierce efforts by the government, as well as companies and investors, most Brits do not believe the UK will become net zero any time in the next few decades.

In fact, Britain will not achieve net zero before 2050, as a new poll shows that a vast majority of people across the UK do not think carbon neutrality is possible during this or even the next generation.

54 per cent of Brits say net zero is "unachievable" before 2050, compared to just 14 per cent saying it is "achievable."

The survey by Electoral Calculus and Find Out Now found that a third were undecided or simply did not know.

The gloomy outlook is not because Brits do not believe climate change is not an issue: 53 per cent said it is "catostrophic for mankind" while less than a fifth, 17 per cent, said it is not.
