TPI launches Global Climate Transition Centre

21.10.2022

The Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI), an influential group led by asset owners and supported by investors, has launched a Global Climate Transition Centre. Hosted by the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, the centre will scale up an existing research programme aimed at assessing how the world’s largest companies in hard-to-abate sectors are transitioning towards low-emission business models. Partnerships have also been established with FTSE Russell, as data partner, and the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change. The centre expands the available sources of independent, empirically grounded research that supports global climate finance initiatives. According to the TPI: “The TPI Centre intends to be a key part of the post-COP26 financial infrastructure to drive greater transparency and accountability for corporate commitments to net zero and to support those seeking to raise capital in public markets.”
