An overview of this week's most important hires and departures within the global net zero community.

US - State Street appoint head of sustainability

US asset management giants State Street have hired Jessica Donohue as head of global investment insights, sustainability and impact.

Boston-based Donohue takes over from Rick Lacaille, who announced his retirement earlier this year. She will report directly to Lou Maiuri, head of investment services.

In this role, Donohue will oversee State Street’s sustainability efforts. In addition, she will lead and coordinate across State Street’s Investment Services and the broader organisation to bring together sustainable investment insights with chief investment officers at the firm’s client organisations.

Donohue has been with State Street since 2008, and previous roles include executive vice president, head of global clients division, and executive vice president, global head of asset owner segment.

UK - PIC names new stewardship manager

Victoria Ruleva has been named as investment stewardship manager at the UK-based Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC).

Her past responsibilities at the PIC, where she has worked since 2021, included asset allocation and streamlining the governance around investments. Her focus will now be on stewardship and engagement within investments.

Prior to joining the PIC, Ruleva was an investment risk specialist at ReAssure for three and a half years.

Global - PRI nominates Kehoe for chair

The UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI) has recommended Conor Kehoe as its next chair, starting in 2024.

He has spent 30 years with McKinsey & Co., where he co-founded the organisation’s investor and private equity practice. Kehoe has also acted as chair of the Integrated Reporting Council, and as a member of the G7 Impact Taskforce on Impact Accounting.

Kehoe’s nomination will be formally proposed at the PRI’s general meeting on 13 September, with his final appointment dependent on a simple majority of PRI signatories voting to confirm him in the role.

He will take over as chair from Martin Skancke when his term as PRI chair concludes at the end of the 2023 calendar year.

Australia - Magellan names new head of ESG

Amy Krizanovic has been named as head of ESG at Australian asset management firm Magellan, with former division head Dom Giuliano departing the firm.

Prior to joining Magellan, Krizanovic was a senior analyst and manager for responsible investments at Sydney-based financial services firm Aware Super, and an executive director for research sales and equities at JP Morgan.

Giuliano had been head of ESG at Magellan for more than 16 years, and in the role was responsible for leading oversight of ESG policy formulation, process implementation and stewardship activities, as well as acting as the portfolio manager of the Magellan global sustainable strategy.

UK/US - Nico Aspinall joins Newton IM

Newton Investment Managers have appointed Nico Aspinall as head of product advocacy in a hybrid role.

Aspinall has previously operated his own consultancy business, which specialises in connecting asset managers to the DC pension space.

He has also acted as chief investment officer at Connected Asset Management, and chief investment officer at B&CE, now known as The People’s Partnership.
