Ireland’s solar sector gets tax boost with 0% VAT rate
Irish solar companies and investors have welcomed proposals by the Irish government to slash VAT rates on solar products to 0%.
According to a tweet by the country's minister of environment, the Irish cabinet plans to unveil its new proposals in an updated finance bill later this week.
Eamon Ryan wrote on the social media platform: "No VAT on new solar panels saving households €1,000 #GreensInGovernment."
"There is also the @SEAI_ie solar grant of up to €2,400. The solar revolution is here : no planning, payment for excess energy, reduce bills."
The latest proposals measures by the Irish department of housing and local government to update planning rules, in order to permit homeowners to install solar solar panels on their roofs without planning permission.
