CPP Investments expands Sustainable Energies team with new regional heads

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) a C$632.3bn fund managing the retirement savings of 22m Canadians has announced the appointment of three new regional heads to bolster its Sustainable Energies team, covering Europe and North America. 

This expansion increases the Sustainable Energies team's leadership to six members. 

Ricardo Caupers has been named head of Sustainable Energies for Europe, where he will be responsible for driving growth across the region. He has been with CPP Investments for more than four years, previously as a managing director for the fund's private equity team. 

In the US, Edwina Kelly will take on the role of head of Sustainable Energies, leading the team in New York and overseeing power investment activities throughout North America. She has also been with CPP for more than five years and continues to hold roles as board member of multiple energy companies. 

Dave Chambers will serve as head of Sustainable Energies for Canada, leading both the team and investment activities within the country, as well as managing energy investments across North America. He has been with the fund for more than 14 years. 

These new appointments join an established leadership team that includes Bill Rogers as Global head, Ricardo Szlejf in Latin America, and Kavita Saha in India. 

The Sustainable Energies group at CPP Investments manages C$34.2bn, it aims to more than double its assets over the coming years. The portfolio encompasses renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydro, alongside conventional power, upstream oil and gas, energy midstream, carbon capture, and distributed energies.
