Hyundai New Zealand receives funding from the government to deploy hydrogen trucks

According to a statement by the New Zealand government, Hyundai New Zealand has received $500k in co-funding from the government’s “Low Emissions Transport Fund”. The fund is administered by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and provided funds to Hyundai NZ under the expectation that the company would “deploy an initial fleet of five zero-emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric trucks into New Zealand and enter real-world daily logistics operation trials. NZ Post will operate the first of these, with plans to eventually deploy it on the Whangarei-Auckland-Hamilton route”. In addition to Hyundai NZ, diary company Fonterra also received $427k towards the purchase of an electric truck to support its transport needs and reduce associated emissions.
