Ontario Power Generation updates green bond framework to include nuclear projects.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG), a large Canadian power company has updated its green bond framework to include nuclear projects. According to the company’s statement, this reflects the strategically valuable role that nuclear energy will play in the company’s climate strategy. Aida Cipolla, CFO of OPG said, “carbon-free nuclear energy has long been key to Ontario’s clean electricity grid, and the release of this updated green bond framework recognizes its crucial role in achieving our net-zero future”. According to OPG, the company was the first Canadian utility to issue green debt and has raised a total of $2.15bn so far.
