Delegates representing some of the UK's largest master trusts took place in the one day event to discuss how defined contribution funds can tackle climate change in their portfolios

How to index investors balance decarbonisation of their own portfolios whilst delivering real world impact on climate mitigation? Does the push for more private assets in Defined Contribution (DC) default portfolios mean greater allocations to renewables and nature positive investments? And how can investors in pooled funds successfully exercise stewardship?

Those were some of the key themes at Net Zero Investor's second DC Forum held at the London Stock Exchange.

The UK's DC market has experienced a sharp growth since the introduction of automatic enrolment. Assets now stand at more than £140bn and the market is on track to grow by 8% per annum. DC master trusts alone are expected to hit more than £460bn by 2029 and thus could become a key player in the UK's transition to net zero.
