Cambridge University endowment takes €80m position in Nasdaq custom futures
The University of Cambridge Investment Management (UCIM) has completed its first trade in Nasdaq Custom Basket Futures, with a notional value of €80m, allowing it to reduce its exposure to conventional energy.
UCIM manages the Cambridge University Endowment Fund, which oversees £4bn in assets and has committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2038.
The investment manager's chosen Nasdaq Custom Basket Futures comprises a pool of equities that exclude conventional energy, aligning with the fund’s sustainable investment strategy.
“Nasdaq Custom Basket Futures enhance UCIM's ability to further reduce exposure to conventional energy within the passive component of the endowment’s public equity portfolio, supporting progress towards our ambition to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2038,” said Sarah Wood, associate director, marketable assets at UCIM.
Julian Butterworth, head of sales, European market services at Nasdaq, said: “This offering is a strong example of how we are delivering innovative tools that empower investors to tailor their exposures while benefiting from the transparency and security of regulated markets.”
